My sweet little family in our backyard, 2012

Welcome to The Shady Acre!

My name is Natalie Lacy Lange. I live in the small town of Brenham, Texas, with my husband of thirteen years and our two sons. We like to pretend we are in the country, but our 1870s farm-style house sits on an acre of land just a few blocks from our quaint downtown. We bought the place (mainly because of the yard) and gutted it in 2004, and we’ve been slowly renovating it and landscaping ever since.

I started this blog in 2007 as a way to document our home and garden projects. (In 2010, I transitioned to WordPress, so all previous archives are here.) These days, our time is spent less on projects in the house and more on raising our boys. My goal is just to document our little life together.

Thanks for visiting! I would love to hear from you. Please email me at natalie@theshadyacre(dot)com.

I’m wondering if you are selling the purple bottles you have listed in your blog? Please email me. Thanks

Hi, TC. I took that photo at a booth in Warrenton (Round Top Antique festival). They’ve had a good selection of those type of bottles every time I’ve been there. If you’re going to be at the festival, let me know and I’ll give directions to get to that booth/tent.

I am IN LOVE with the vintage doorbell you created. I am not crafty. Any chance you would be willing to make another one and sell it? Please?

Hi, Theresa! Thank you for the sweet note! You’re name is so familiar, and I’m not sure if it’s just from social media or if we’ve actually met out at Round Top before! I love your work!
