Welcome to The Shady Acre!

My name is Natalie Lacy Lange. I live in a small town in South Central Texas with my husband of nine years, our baby boy, Great Dane, two cats, four chickens, and two ducks. We like to pretend we are in the country, but our 1870s farm-style house sits on an acre of land just a few blocks from our quaint downtown. We bought the place (mainly because of the yard) and gutted it in 2004, and we’ve been slowly renovating it and landscaping ever since.

I started this blog in 2007 as a way to document our home and garden projects. In 2010, I transitioned to WordPress, so all previous archives are here.
