We took a quick weekend trip with my family to Galveston for Tice’s first visit to the beach. It was so good to get away, but we wanted to stay for a few more days. I didn’t take near enough photos. I had planned to take some family photos on Sunday morning, but it was raining, so we completely missed that opportunity. Bummer!

We soaked up some sun. We had some uninterrupted time with family. And we sat on the balcony with cocktails and talked and laughed with the sound of the ocean as our soundtrack. There’s nothing like the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, is there? It’s peaceful, but violent. It’s consistent, but ever-changing.

As much as Tice loves to swim, it took him a while to warm up to the salty spray. When we went back out later that morning, he loved it though. He couldn’t get enough of being dipped into the water and pulled out just as the waves lapped at his toes. I think he wore his daddy out! Of course, I was kicking myself for not taking my camera out there. I did take the video camera, so one day I’ll be glad about that. I’m starting to get anxious for a new DSLR so I can use it for videoing instead of worrying about carrying separate cameras.

My shadow below is the only picture of me on the beach. Nice, huh? I think my mom and sister got some with us.

I like this silhouette of Harper and Tice. It hides Tice’s black eye. Of course he would get a black eye right before his first trip to the beach! I just hope it’s healed before his first day of school.

My dad (Papa to the grandkids) took Katie and Dean out while we ate breakfast.

We didn’t have time to do too much sightseeing, but we did take Tice to the aquarium at Moody Gardens. He loved the penguins and the seals.

Check out the planking penguin!

I wish we could go back next weekend!

the beach looks so clean. we were there this summer and had to clear a path through all the seaweed to get to the water. :)

It was very clean, Becky! There was a beach sweeper that had obviously been hired to clean the beach around the condos where we stayed. Tice loved watching it early on Saturday morning! We’ve been there before when the seaweed was really bad–and smelly, too!
