I know there’s still about three weeks until summer officially starts, but most of us count Memorial Day as the usher of summer–right?
These wrinkly little toes are my new favorite sign that summer has arrived.
Monday was the first time that we’ve been in the pool long enough to get raisin toes. My sister and her kiddos were visiting my parents, so we decided to join them for just a bit. (Oh, and they deserve a big thank you for being still enough to allow me to get in the pool with my camera to take the above pic without getting splashed. Thanks, KatieLynn and Dean!)
Even Harper joined us for some splash time.
And he had the nerve to mention that he thought he could beat me if we were to race. I won’t even mention his theory on why I would lose, but I was ready for the challenge. At least, I thought I was ready.
Note: We have raced many times. He never wins.
Never say never. He beat me! In front of my family! I know, I know–who cares, I’m a grown-up and all that stuff. But I lost!
I immediately challenged him to a rematch, but he wisely declined. Between breaths, he said he didn’t think he could go another length. At least I won at stamina.
I think he just got lucky!
Have I mentioned that I don’t like to lose?
Next time, it’s on…
Despite my loss, a good time was had by all. Even Tice was distracted from his teething woes.
I know Tice didn’t know what we were talking about, but we did explain to him the real meaning of Memorial Day. We are so blessed to have freedom in this country, and I know it has not been given without great sacrifice.
Is it just me, or could you just eat him up?
I can’t wait to see what this summer brings. Hopefully lots more pool time with family and friends!
How did you kick off the summer this weekend?
