The guest bedroom has been "finished" for a while,
but without a bed and other furniture, it might as well be a closet... I really
wanted it to be finished (bed and all) by the time my brother and sister-in-law
come for Thanksgiving, so Harper found several possible rail sets that might
work in Brandi & D's storage building. Of course, nothing can be easy or simple,
and this was no exception. Apparently, there is no standard for antique
bed/mattress sizes. This bed is as wide as a modern full-size bed, but the rails
that I liked best and fit were a few inches too short for the new mattress. I
was so frustrated upon this discovery--I thought I would finally be able to
finish the room. We came up with several possible solutions, but all would
require some moderate construction. Luckily, One of the rail sets was a little
bit longer, but it had two metal hooks instead of one (the bed has one bar for
one hook), so they didn't quite fit. We ended up breaking off the bottom hook,
and then it slid right into the slot. After measuring and a quick trip to Lowes,
Harper modified the rails to work with new box spring. And now it fits--barely,
but it fits! If the mattress was even a half inch longer, it wouldn't work, but
thank God...

As usual, Sargent was supervising!

We spent the weekend in Austin to celebrate our
seven year anniversary and attend one of Harper's cousin's wedding. We met the
pug at Flip Happy Crepes (yum!), and I couldn't resist his face.

November 23
The first paper white bloom of the season!

We have so much to be thankful for!
Our family and friends are at the top of the list, and it was so good to see so
many of you in the last few days. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, which of
course includes eating way too much, but it was worth every bite! Click
